AWAKEN THE ANCIENT A Contemporary Look Into Kathak Classical Indan Dance This Class will begin in September the dates and times will be posted soon Kathak Dance originated in the Hindu temples of North India in the 13th century BC. The word "Kathak" comes from the Sanskrit, "Katha", meaning “to tell a story”, and the original Kathakas would use dance and music to bring to life the great scriptures and epics of ancient times. Centuries later, the Mughal king's enticed dancers from the temples to the royal courts, where the dance was enriched by Persian influences. Bhavani Lee's teaching allows you to discover the deeper spiritual meaning behind the movement, expression and rhythm of the dance.
